MILLION PILLOWCASE CHALLENGE...
BIG NEWS!!! Quilter’s
Emporium has moved to 5th Place!
This week I posted a picture from one of the many deliveries
that has been made to Houston Hospice for our Charity Choice picture. Please go out and vote for this new
picture. Voting for week 3 is March 23 –
29. Please vote for our picture at http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/pillowcasemadness. Each vote earns us points. We want to stay in the top 5 places so we can
win one of the cash prizes. With that
money we can buy more pillowcase fabric.
You can only vote once each week, but you can register to win a daily
prize while you are on the site. It
would be so much fun to see the name of someone from Quilter’s Emporium on the
Week 4 and the final challenge is called Completed
Pillowcases. That means our points will come
from the picture of all our finished pillowcases for the month of March. From looking at the date we will need to
submit our picture before the end of the day on the 31st. I know this is a lot to ask with the Easter Holidays
approaching, but please try to make a pillowcase or two in the next week so we
have a large count. (Our Hospices always
love getting big stacks of pillowcases.)
Barbara or I will be sure to pick up pillowcases late on March 31st
so we can get a full accounting for the final challenge.
Please remember It isn’t just getting votes on our photos
that give us points, but at the end of the month we will get more points for
the pillowcases we give to charity. So
please keep sewing. You are doing a
Barbara delivered a fresh batch of pillowcase kits to QE on
Wednesday afternoon, so the drawer is full. We are trying to keep the drawer
full so you always have something to work on.
We still have a shortage of large pieces of print fabric. We
have lots of 10 inch tops and 2 ½ inch trim strips cut and ready to go as soon
as we have bodies cut. Would you
consider donating yardage of 100% cotton fabric from your collection (or purchasing
a yard or two)? Pillowcase bodies
require 3/4 yd. of fabric. Thank you in
advance for any donation you can make. Our
kits are free. Just ask one of the staff
for one or more when you are in the shop.
We just ask that you return the finished pillowcases to QE for our
Be sure to go vote for the picture labeled “Quilter’s
Emporium donates our pillowcases to….”

Skill level Scale
Beginner - Student has no piecing or quilting experience
Experienced Beginner - Student has attended Beginning Quiltmaking Class or equivalent.
Intermediate- Student has completed a few quilt tops and is ready to "grow" their skills. A confident piecer.
It is the student's responsibility to remind the clerk at the time of checkout, if fabric or notions are being purchased for a class, qualifying for a 15% discount. We cannot go back to previous sales tickets to issue discounts. We appreciate your help in this.
We started slowly, because we will be offering
optional cutting instructions as well as support for those of you who opted to
use some of the Studio 180 rulers. In addition, our next class meeting is
the very last day of March, so you have plenty of time to finish the first
clue, and get ready for the second clue. At our next session, we will
use the first Studio 180 ruler, Tucker Trimmer I, if you selected that option..
Come join us, March 31st, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00a.m. OR 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

to all of you who are a part of this great group! We hope you’re having as much fun as we
are! Rose Ann has gone to great lengths
to acquire enough additional Modern Antiques fabric for everybody’s
quilts. We are currently waiting on a
new printing of the background fabric and cutting kits for the rest of the
batik blocks. Once the batik block kits
are complete, we will use the rest of those fabrics to complete the setting
kits (upwards of 70 fabrics, for a truly scrappy quilt).
