Going on a ..Sea Cruise!!
Carol, Pam and I will leave on Sunday for our weeklong cruise on Carnival's Magic! I am so looking forward to getting back on the boat! Our ports of call are Key West, Nassau and Freeport in the Bahamas! Can you say "shopping"???? I can!
Some of you are familiar with gifted teacher Winnie Fleming. She used to teach at Friendswood - Quakertown Quilts. She will be teaching at Quilter's Emporium in a bit! She has a couple of terrific classes that she taught on last years cruise. One was a hugely popular borders class and the other class is called Formulas 101. They definitely are classes that you will want to take. You don't sew in either class, they are lecture-demo sessions. But you will learn SO MUCH! Take this opportunity to sign up. You will not want to miss either one. Be sure to check the class schedule carefully. We've added some classes that were briefly off the schedule.
Now while we are gone on the cruise, the staff usually put something on sale each day. I'm sure that they willdo the same this time, so be sure to stop by to see what they have done...and save those tickets!
We have lots of new fabrics in the store! I am going to have to start building some new fabric cabinets when we get back. We will carry all 150 of Jinny Beyer Palette and we've received our first shipment of some 40 bolts. French General's Rouenneries Deux is in from Moda. So beautiful! We also have the first shipment of a beautiful line of Maywood Studios' Flannels. They are stupendous! So soft to work with. And I finished last week, a wool project made from a multitude of colors from Wooly Lady. All I can say is "OMG!" They are so nicely felted and soft to work with. I'm over the moon about those. The colors are fantastic. We got Babara Brackman's WIlliam Morris and Company and it's so lovely! And finally, we have some special cuts of some upcoming fabric lines from Moda. From Primitive Gatherings - Seasonal Gatherings; from Laundry Basket Quilts - we have Love Letters; from Blackbird Designs - we have Meadow (that is in one of my new quilts for my book); and from Collections for a Cause - we have Friendship. We have Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, and Layer Cakes. We don't usually carry a lot of special cuts, so this is a good opportunity for you to get some fresh, new fabric before the bolts are even shipped from the company!
Don't forget that you will receive a free gift when you check out your purchases! You will also receive a ticket for every $20 that you spend in the store. Save those tickets. You can only get them until Saturday, February 25 at 3pm. I will draw from those tickets and the prizes include a stuffed Moda tote bag, quilt kits, a small sewing machine and more! It should be lots of fun but you must be here to win!
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Notes from Pam
I'm glad we got those boxes for the cruise all packed last week because I've been stuck at home for several days now with a cold. It hasn't been any fun or anyone except Annie...she lives in my lap! I'm just glad it hit me before the cruise...I WILL be ready to set sail on Sunday.
I have substitute leaders for both the Jo Morton ladies and the Mystery Quilt Club and they will be all ready to take care of things. For the Jo ladies I brought back some fabric from Washington labeled "Inspired by a quilt from the International Quilt Study Center & Museum at the University of Nebraska designed by Kathy Hall with Jo Morton for Andover Fabrics, Inc." So, I think it is fair game and I'm sharing! I hope you like it!
I sent out the cutting instructions for Step 2 of the Mystery Quilt last week but in case you missed them, here they are again...
Light Fabric #1
Cut 2 WOF strips 4 1/4" wide. You may need a third strip is your fabric is narrower than 42 1/2" wide. Cut these strip into 20
4 1/4" squares.
Cut these squares twice, diagonally, to make 4 triangles from each. Yield: 80 triangles
Medium Dark Fabric #3
Cut 4 WOF strips 4 1/4" wide. You may need a fifth strip is you fabric is narrower that 42 1/2" wide. Cut these strips into 40 4 1/4" squares. Cut these squares twice, diagonally, to make 4 triangles from each. Yield: 160 triangles.
Dark Fabric #4
Repeat the cutting instructions from Light Fabric #1.
You will need to bring the units you make in Step 1...prepare for lots of sewing!
I'll be thinking of you from the high seas and beautiful beaches...if you have never been on one of these cruises start making your plans for next year!!
